Owner and Winemaker Connor Dotzler grew up surrounded by vineyards, people, and traditions that define Napa Valley. As a teenager, he spent his summers working as a cellar rat at Outpost Wines while playing high school football in St. Helena. Those early years in the cellar taught him that great wine begins with hard work, patience, and resilience.
Connor later spent years refining his craft under acclaimed winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown at Mending Wall. There, he gained invaluable hands-on experience and developed a deeper understanding of Napa Valley’s vineyards and winemaking potential. Combined with the knowledge and industry experience passed down from his father, Connor built a foundation shaped by family, mentorship, and years of dedication.
Spin Off represents the next chapter of that journey, Connor’s opportunity to put his own spin on everything he has learned and build a name for himself. Rooted in Napa Valley but guided by an independent vision, Spin Off creates wines that honor where Connor comes from while expressing where he is headed.
Our Wines
Glass Slipper Vineyard
A long-time student of vineyard geology, Paul Frank had a successful history in Napa Valley of locating potentially exceptional sites for wine grape production.
Paul and wife Suzie had been trying for years to find another distinguished site for a new vineyard. In 2016, they found the perfect fit, just right for the characteristics they sought; hence the name “Glass Slipper”. The “Coombsville” area is regularly cooled by bay breezes, allowing for slow and even ripening of the grapes. The site already had a history of producing outstanding wines, but they knew improvements could be made. They introduced their favorite “clone” of Cabernet Sauvignon and cutting-edge viticultual technique.
The result exceeded even their own expectations.
Wines among the best of Napa Valley were the result, and Glass Slipper vineyard took its place among Napa Valley’s most distinguished vineyards.
